Tampa and No. 9 Lynn Play to Double Overtime Tie
Spartans and Fighting Knights play 110 minutes.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team scored a late goal in regulation to tie No. 9 Lynn as the two teams played a pair of scoreless overtime periods.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | Juancho Fernandez got the Spartans on the board with a goal in the fifth minute. The first goal of the match came off a give and go inside the box from teammate Monty Berrow. This would go down as the lone goal of the half as Lynn held a 6-4 edge in shots.
2nd Half | The Fighting Knights needed just 20 seconds to knot the score at 1-1 as Tomer Bitton scored on a deflection. Lynn's Alun Webb would give the home team a 2-1 lead when he scored on a penalty kick in the 60th minute. With just under three minutes to play in regulation, UT's Knut Soeren Hovet connected on a header off a flick from the middle of the box from teammate Marcel Salokat. The Fighting Knights outshot UT 12-8 in the half.
Overtime | Neither team registered a shot in the first 10 minutes, as the Spartans had a pair of opportunities in the final overtime period. UT would finish overtime with two shots compared to one for the Fighting Knights.

INSIDE THE STATS:
• Lynn outshot UT 19-14 in the match as the Spartans held a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
• The goal by Fernandez was his first since the season opener against West Florida on September 2.
• A defender, Hovet connected on his first collegiate goal in the second half.
• Jake Richards started in goal for Tampa, finishing with four saves.
• Tampa was issued three yellow cards with Lynn receiving a red card in the 87th minute.
• Tampa had more fouls, 13-12, and also took all four of the game's corners.
UP NEXT:
Tampa returns home for a pair of matches next week. UT hosts Nova Southeastern on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and then concludes its home season Saturday at 7 p.m., against Florida Tech. The FIT match will also mark senior day and homecoming.
