HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: The game began with each team fighting for possession. The Mocs recorded the first two shots of the match, applying pressure to the Tampa defense. The conference foes continued to battle for the rest of the first half, with the Spartans having a few good looks. The teams were equal at zero headed into the half.
Score: 0-0 Tampa
SECOND HALF: The second half opened with each team eager to score first. In the 51st minute of the match, junior defender Marcello Valbuena opened the scoring, capitalizing off a pass from Yannik Pohlmann. In the 76th minute, Pohlmann found teammate Alexandre Badji in front of the net to build the Spartan lead 2-0. The Spartans' two goals would prove to be the deciding factor of the match, as they went on to earn the win.
