Spartans Fall to Division I Wright State
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams were defeated by NCAA Division I opponent Wright State University in an event that included 20 relay events. UT's men fell 99-79 while the women dropped a 113.5 to 54.5 decision.
Tampa championed its first race when the men's team of Patrick Murray, Matthew Kramer and Shane Armbrister won the 300 Backstroke Relay in 2:43. UT's men also won the 300 Fly Relay in 2:39.73 as Paul LaPorta, Roman Dagesh and Daniel Hernandez each competed.
The Spartans then got a win in the 500 Crescendo Relay (4:14.96) from Mike Verdi, Jeffrey Fiore, Frank Kuchta and Chris O'Linger. The final UT victory came in the 500 SNARF Relay (5:00.67) as O'Linger, Hunter Lineback and Tyler Furrer claimed the top finishing time.
UT's women won the 300 Fly Relay following a time of 2:59.58 from Lindsay Calimer, Dana Glodek and Emilee Margiotta.
Tampa will be back in action on Dec. 19-21 when it travels to Cleveland, Miss., for the Delta State Invitational.
