Spartan Women In First Place Through Two Days At SSC Championships
ORLANDO, Fla. - Through two days at the first annual Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships, The University of Tampa women's team is in first place as the Spartan men are third.
On Friday, UT's Heather Glenday won the 500 Free with a time of 4:55.76. Halfway through the championships, UT's women have 360 points to lead Florida Southern (332), Rollins (227), Saint Leo (191) and Nova Southeastern (160).
Tampa's men currently have 257 points, trailing first-place Nova Southeastern (380) and Florida Southern (302.5). Rollins (178.5) and Saint Leo (165) are also competing.
On Thursday, UT's women won the 800 Free Relay behind a 7:38.79 effort from the team of Kelsey Lubbers, Alexandria Greenhill, Kristine Kassl and Glenday. The race was a part of four events that took place on the first day of competition.
The championships are scheduled to last through Sunday, with six championship events on tap for Saturday followed by six on the final day of competition.
