Spartans In Contention For SSC Swimming Title
ORLANDO, Fla. - Heading into the final day of the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships, The University of Tampa women continue to lead the field while its men are in third place.
With 650 points on the women's side, UT leads Florida Southern (570), Rollins (358), Saint Leo (333) and Nova Southeastern (280) as it remains in position for the championship at the first SSC title race. In men's action, Nova Southeastern (662.5) continues to lead Florida Southern (538.5), Tampa (504.5), Saint Leo (288) and Rollins (281.5).
Tampa picked up three individual championships on Saturday, with Caroline Belli championing the 100 Back in a time of 56.84. Lindsay Calimer also won the 100 Fly (56.38) as Kelsey Lubbers won the 400 IM (4:26.89).
In men's action, Jeff Fiore won the 200 Free title with a time of 1:39.53.
The championships are scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
