Tampa Races to Split With Saint Leo
ST. LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams competed in a Sunshine State Conference meet with Saint Leo University of Saturday, with the Spartan women claiming a 177-85 victory as the UT men fell 147-115.
The Spartan women won both relays, beginning with the 200 Medley Relay group of Hilary Stetekluh, Jamie Pappanastos, Emily Grams and Erin Plachy, clocking a time of 1:51.02. UT then concluded the meet with a relay win in the 400 Free Relay from Heather Glenday, Grams, Amy O'Brien and Allison Noe with a time of 3:43.50.
Catherine Parker won two races, the 200 Fly (2:09.26) and 100 Fly (59.36) as Kylie Piche also took a pair for the Spartans in the 50 Free (24.90) and 100 Free (54.38). Glenday also won the 1,000 Free (10:49.15) and Alexandria Greenhill took the 200 Free (1:58.18). Pappanastos claimed the top finish in the 200 Breast (2:30.69) while Briana Murphy championed the 500 Free (5:19.13).
UT's men opened the meet with a first-place showing in the 200 Medley Relay from Karl Burdis, Kevin Doran, Felipe Manzo and David Humphrey (1:33.88). Also winning for the Spartan men were Zane Hranac (200 Fly, 1:59.67) and Doran (200 Breast, 2:13.89).
The Spartans return to action on Friday, Nov. 30, at home against Florida Tech. The meet is scheduled for 5 p.m. Fans may watch UT home events through TampaSpartans.tv.
