Tampa Returns to Action with Easy Win over Florida Tech
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa picked up a pair of Sunshine State Conference swimming victories over Florida Tech as the Spartan men were victorious 117-69 and the women 122-56.
Tampa's women started the meet with a 200 Medley Relay win from Emily Tan, Alex Hipolito, Emily Grams and Kristine Kassl. The winning time was clocked at 1:52.92.
Kassl headlined the Spartan women's effort with an NCAA B Cut time in the 500 Free (5:08.99). Also turning in first-place finishes were Heather Glenday (200 Free, 1:56.71), Erin Plachy (50 Free, 24.80), Alexandra Webb (200 IM, 2:14.69), Grams (100 Fly, 59.12), Kylie Piche (100 Free, 55.71) and Alexandria Greenhill (100 Back, 1:03.42).
UT's men took a pair of relay win, beginning with the 200 Medley Relay from Karl Burdis, Kevin Doran, Felipe Manzo and David Humphrey (1:34.58). The 200 Free Relay team of Maximilian Coulls, James Lynch, Jordan Augier and Jeremy Parker (1:28.20) were also the first to finish.
David Humphrey claimed the top spot in the 50 Free (21.49) as Stephen Zieler (100 Free, 48.53) and Burdis (100 Back, 52.19) also won their respective races.
The Spartans will return to action on Saturday in a critical SSC meet with Nova Southeastern University. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. A video webcast will be available through TampaSpartans.tv.
