Tampa Swimming Stifles Panthers
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa swimming program swept Florida Tech, as the No. 8 men's team won 116-76 while the No. 11 women's team took a 111.5-77.5 triumph.
The Spartan women took the first event of the meet, winning the 200 yard medley relay thanks to the combined efforts of Danielle Bach, Alex Hipolito, Emily Grams and Marisa Barton with a 1:51.67 finish. The men mirrored with their own top time of 1:33.89 in their 200 medley relay behind Karl Burdis, Philip Nordenberg, Khalid Aldaboos and Derek Krell.
Senior Heather Glenday took the 1000 yard freestyle with a 10:33.82 final time while Hipolito finished first in the 400 individual medley with a 4:39.27 final time.
Aldaboos recorded three first-place finishes including the 100 yard butterfly (51.16) and the 50 yard freestyle (21.29) to go along with his medley relay performance. Burdis took the 100 yard backstroke heat, touching the pad after 51.60 seconds.
UT will continue its road meets with a visit to the campus of Nova Southeastern University Saturday with a 10 a.m. start time.
