Spartans Fall Short at Nova Southeastern
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The No. 8 University of Tampa men's swimming team and the No. 11 women each suffered a loss to Nova Southeastern on Saturday, falling 120-85 and 113-92 respectively.
The Spartan men began the meet with one of two relay victories, placing first in the 400 Medley Relay. Karl Burdis, Philip Nordenberg, Runar Borgen and Martin Hammer registered the winning time of 3:25.08.
UT had a pair of first-place finishes on the men's side, coming from Borgen in the 200 IM (1:57.37) and Hammer in the 100 Free (46.38).
The 400 Free Relay team of Hammer, Damen Pheiffer, Jeremy Parker and Khalid Aldaboos won the final relay in a time of 3:06.22.
On the women's side, Erin Plachy took first in a pair of races. She was the first to finish in both the 50 Free (24.48) and 100 Free (54.26). Heather Glenday also won the 500 Free in 5:13.50.
Tampa's women won a relay race in the 400 Free Relay as Marisa Barton, Plachy, Emily Grams and Glenday were clocked at 3:36.71.
The Spartans will return to Fort Lauderdale for the upcoming NSU Invitational from Dec. 14-17.
