Spartans Remain in Contention Half-Way Through SSC Championships
ORLANDO, Fla. - Day two action of the Sunshine
State Conference Swimming Championships took place Friday. The day
was another day packed with record breaking action as five more SSC
records fell, as well as, eight meet records.
The performances from today bring the aggregate totals to 12 SSC
and 19 meet record breaking performances that have been broken in
just two days of action. Once day two action came to a close, the
standings have remained constant with Nova Southeastern leading the
standings.
Headlining the day for the host University of Tampa Spartans was a
new school record in the men's 200 Free Relay. The record time of
1:19.80 was registered by the team of Martin Hammer, Runar Borgen,
Derek Krell and Jeremy Parker. Parker also set a new school record
in the 200 Free with a showing of 1:38.05.

Day two Preliminaries, Records broken:
Day two action started with a bang just like day one. Nova
Southeastern's Bryndis Hansen is now the owner of the Women's 100
Butterfly SSC record as she registered a time of (54.49). Hansen
improved the time she set previously for the record (54.83) in
2014. Another Shark set a record as Thiago Sickert set an SSC
Championship record in the men's 100 fly with a time of (47.94). He
replaces Matheus Assis of Saint Leo, who set the record last year.
Also setting a new record was Emma Wahlstrom of Nova. Wahlstrom set
a new Championship meet record for the Women's 200 Freestyle
putting up a time of (1:49.35).
Day two Finals, Records broken:
Second day of finals began much like the prelims with Nova
Southeastern shattering records. Bryndis Hansen bested her 100
Butterfly record that she set earlier with a new time of (54.34).
Also improving upon a record established in the prelims was Nova's
Emma Wahlstrom setting a new time for the meet record that she set
in Women's 200 Freestyle with a time of (1:48.93). Following the
trend, Thiago Sickert also improved the time of a record he set in
the prelims. Sickert also shedded time off the SSC championship
record he set in the Men's 100 Butterfly with a new record time of
(47/69). Rounding out the individual records broken today was
Courtney DeVeny, who set a new SSC record in the Women's 400 IM
with a time of (4:16.83). The new time dethrones Allie Crenshaw of
Nova Southeastern (4:19.75) who set the record in 2013. Nova
Southeastern's Women's relay teams set new records in the 200
Medley relay (1:33.05), and the 400 Medley relay (3:45.75).
Nova's 200 Medley relay time was an SSC record, and the 400 Medley
relay was Championships record. Closing out the day's action Nova
Southeastern's Men's 400 Medley relay team set a new Championships
record posting a time of (3:12.52).
