Spartans Sweep Weekly SSC Swim Awards
Sophomore Brittany Bayes and senior Khalid Aldaboos earned Swimmer of the Week honors for their efforts against Rollins College.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa swim program swept the Sunshine State Conference Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Week awards for the period spanning Nov. 30-Dec. 6, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Both senior Khalid Aldaboos and sophomore Brittany Bayes pick up the weekly award after leading the Spartans to a pair of wins over Rollins College.
Men's swimmer Aldaboos garners his first weekly accolade after leading the men's swimming team to a 168-93 win over Rollins College. The senior posted a top finish in the 200 yard freestyle, touching the wall with a 1:45.50 time. In the 200 yard medley relay, Tampa claimed another top finish with Aldaboos recording a 22.13 leg of a 1:31.91 combined effort with Runar Borgen, Jordan Augier and Jeremy Parker.
Bayes charted the women's team to a 170-88 win over the Tars, garnering her first SSC honor. The sophomore recorded a top finish in the 1000 yard Freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 10:42.61. The Mullica Hill, N.J. native added another first-place event in the 500 yard Freestyle, posting a top-time of 5:08.59.
The Tampa swim team will host the Spartan Invitational beginning on Dec. 18 in Clearwater, Fla.
