No. 11 Men's Swimming Edged by Florida Tech on the Road
The Spartans fell 106-99 to the hosting Panthers on the road, Saturday.
MELBOURNE, Fla. - After sweeping its past pair of home meets, the No. 11 University of Tampa men's swimming team was narrowly defeated by Florida Tech on the road, Saturday. The hosting Panthers bested the Spartans by a slim 106-99 margin.
Tampa claimed the top time in five of the 11 men's events of the meet, led by seniors Khalid Aldaboos and Jordan Augier. The duo combined to for four of the top finishes, as Augier led with three event victories.
In the first men's event of the meet, the Spartans took the 200 yard medley relay behind the efforts of Augier, Wayne Denswil, Victor Philaire and Danny Duhig. The squad claimed first place with a 1:35.13 final with Duhig providing a 21.30 leg of the race.
Aldaboos added to the UT score with a first place time of 20.94 in the 50 yard freestyle. Augier mirrored with another top finish in the 100 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 53.08 seconds.
Junior Nicholas Stoski added another top time in the 100 breaststroke behind a 59.60 performance.
The Spartans took the final event of the meet in the 200 yard freestyle relay, as the efforts of Aldaboos, Augier, Duhig and Marc-Olivier Caron led to a 1:24.34 win.
UT will conclude the regular season on the road, meeting Saint Leo University on January 30 at 3 p.m.
