UT Swimmers Continue Pursuit of 2016 Olympic Bid
Jeremy Parker is among those looking to represent UT at the Olympics.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa swimming program has a number of swimmers who are competing for spots at the 2016 Summer olympics in Rio.
Among the current and former Spartans competing to represent their respective countries are Jeremy Parker, Runar Borgen, Martin Hammer and Jordan Augier.
Parker, a 2016 graduate from Tampa, will compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb., on Friday. The UT and Plant High School product will race in the 50 Free. Parker is a three-time All-American at Tampa, who also won a pair of national championships at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships.

Runar Borgen and Martin Hammer recently competed for the Norwegian team, setting new Norwegian national records at the Settecolli Trophy. Hammer set a new Norwegian mark in the 50 free on Friday morning, posting a time of 22.77. Borgen set a new national record in the men's 50 butterfly, posting a time of 24.18 in the prelims. He topped his own record of 24.21, a time he put up in 2015.
Borgen, a recent graduate, hails from Bodo, Norway. Hammer is entering his senior season at Tampa, represents Fredrikstad, Norway. Both are three-time All-Americans who joined Parker as national champions in 2016.
Jordan Augier, a recent graduate from Gros-Islet, Sr. Lucia, will be competing in the Caribbean National Championships this week. Three three-time All-American who won two relay national titles at the 2016 NCAA Championships.
