Tampa Track Participates Among Best at FSU Relays
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams competed in the Florida State University Relays over the weekend, setting several personal and school record times.
In the men's 800 Meter race, Steven Dennig, Steven was 10th as the freshman set a school record with a time of 1:55.18. He was also third in his heat. Zach McLain tied his personal best while finishing 27th with a time of 2:00.13 as Jacob Bailey (34th, 2:02.18) also competed for the Spartans.
UT had several individuals in the men's 5,000 Meter event, led by a personal-best time from Michael Zwijacz. He was 17th after being clocked at 15:48.39. Peter Orgass (19th, 15:56.14), Chris Rego (20th, 16:09.24), Lewis Price (24th, 16:29.93), Mike Leone (26th, 16:48.50) and Bailey (30th, 17:01.29) also competed for the Spartans.
Charles Toledo was fourth in the men's 10,000 Meter Run, placing with a time of 32:07.46.
The women's 200 Meter Dash included Tampa's Lindsay Smith, who was 36th with a showing of 26.42.
The Spartan women were well represented in the 800 Meter Run, with Kelly Hagan finishing 13th with a time of 2:20.97). Christa McLeod won the third heat with a personal-best time as she placed 22nd with a showing of 2:28.64. Also running for UT were Iolani Scanlan 925th, 2:32.18), Dana Glodek (26th, 2:32.44) and Abby Paterson (29th, 2:38.02).
The women's 1,500 Meter Run also featured a host of Spartans, including a personal-best effort from Kelly Hagan. The sophomore was ninth with a time of 4:44.33. Glodek (19th, 5:06.34), McLeod (22nd, 5:08.95), Scanlan (26th, 5:15.02) and Paterson (28th, 5:17.12) also ran with Paterson turning in a personal-best.
UT's Kelsey Burnett also ran in the women's 400 Meter Hurdles, coming in 31st with a time of 1:13.49.
Tampa will return to action on March 30-31 at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
