UT Among Teams at Tom Jones Meet
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa track teams participated in the Tom Jones Meet, which was hosted by the University of Florida at Percy Beard Track.
Tampa began the day in the 200 Meter Dash, as Lindsay Smith clocked a time of 26.78 to finish 26th.
In the men's 800 Meter Dash, freshman Steven Dennig led all Spartans with a ninth-place showing at 1:57.07. Also competing for UT were Jacob Bailey (10th, 1:59.76) and Zach McClain (11th, 2:01.17).
Kelly Hagan led a group of four UT women in the 1,500 Meter race, placing sixth with a time of 4:42.50. Christa McLeod (10th, 5:02.44), Iolani Scanlan (11th, 5:09.45) and Abby Paterson (13th, 5:23.44) also ran for Tampa.
The men's 1,500 Meter event included three Spartans as Charles Toledo led the way with a sixth-place showing. The junior from Tampa, Fla., finished sixth with a 4:08.42 time. Michael Zwijacz was seventh (4:12.71) and Bailey was eighth (4:19.02).
In the men's 3,000 Meter, Chris Rego led all Spartans, clocking a time of 8:58.97 to finish third. Peter Orgass followed at fourth (9:11.10) as Zwijacz (5th, 9:24.98) and Mike Leone (7th, 9:36.48) followed.
Lewis Price concluded the day for the Spartans, running to a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 Meter Steeple with a time of 9:59.47.
