Spartans Finish Second In Both Races at SSC Championships
Sunrise, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams both ran to second place performances at the 2006 Sunshine state Conference Championships at Markham Park. Florida Southern was the winner of both races in the event, which was hosted by Nova Southeastern.
In the women's race, the Spartans were four points off the lead as the duo of Paige Williams and Alysha Duffy finished fourth and fifth to pace UT. Jessica Forrester finished eighth as top runner Laura Woznicki did not finish the race. Other Spartans who participated were Michelle Gabrielle (11th), Dara Fox (12th), Sara Nelson (14th), Nicole Miranda (16th) and Leela Hadsock (25th).
Tony Nicolosi turned in a fifth-place finish in the men's race as Jeremy Lautzenheiser (7th) and David Forry (eighth) rounded out the top-10. Jake Bess (14th), Scott Cohen (15th), Trevor VanKnotsenburg (20th) and Chris Catanach (27th) were the other UT runners to compete.
