Spartans to Make First NCAA Tournament Appearance Since 2004
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team has earned a berth to the 2008 NCAA II Softball Tournament, marking the fourth appearance in program history and first since 2004. The Spartans will open the South Regional on Wednesday at 4 p.m., against Rollins. The event will be hosted by Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.
UT enters the tournament as the number-four seed in the South Region after finishing in a second place tie in the Sunshine State Conference.
In 10 previous NCAA tournament games, the Spartans carry a 4-6 overall record in the postaseason. Tampa has appeared in the event in 2001, 2002 and 2004. In the most recent appearance, UT won a pair of games in the regional.
Tickets are available at the gate for $8 (adults), $5 (students/senior citizens) and $2 (children under 12). A tournament pass will also be available for $25/$15/$6.
