Tampa Set To Honor Seniors At Final Homestand
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team is set to conclude its regular season with a three-game series against Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College.
The series will begin with a single game on Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader, which is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time, will also serve as senior day for four Spartans.
Ashley Carrea, Shannon Kelly, Jessica Tejas and Heather Van Landingham will each play their final games at the UT Softball Field as the group has played in a combined 377 games for the red, black and gold.
The Spartans enter the series sporting a 20-17 overall record and 11-10 mark in the SSC. The Tritons are 15-32-1 and 5-16 in league play. The two teams have met one time this season, with UT notching a 3-0 victory on Feb. 19 at the Eckerd Tournament in Clearwater.
UT owns a 56-17 advantage in the all-time series and has won 11 straight contests with the Tritons. Eckerd's last win over the Spartans came by a 3-2 margin in 2006.
