Sheena Walton Earns Regional Honors
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa center Sheena Walton has been chosen as a Daktronics second-team all-South region selection, as announced Thursday. This marks the second consecutive season that Walton has been included on the regional list as she becomes the first player in Spartan history to earn the award twice.
Walton, a junior who hails from Largo, Fla., is coming off a school record 12 block performance in Rollins in the Sunshine State Conference tournament championship. She also added 10 points and was two rebounds shy of the school's first triple-double in the Spartan victory. In 25 games this season, Walton has recorded a blocked shot in every game.
UT's leading scorer at 13.7 points per game, Walton was also a first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection. While ranking second in the nation with 3.84 blocks per game, she is also ninth in the country with a 54.6 field goal percentage. Walton also averages 8.2 rebounds per contest while her 86 offensive rebounds are tops on the team.
