Cavallaro, Rodney Earn All-SSC Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern University, Sunshine State Conference Regular Season Champion, boasts seven All-SSC awards including the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year. In all, 14 women's basketball student-athletes were recognized as All-SSC.
Jasmine Wilkins was selected Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Sharks to a 21-5 (13-3) record in 2014-15. Wilkins joins Kira Harvey (Lynn, 2013) as the only athletes to be named SSC Player and Defensive Player of the Year since the defensive award was established in 2008.
Nova Southeastern's LeAnn Freeland is named SSC Coach of the Year by her peers. She takes her team into the conference tournament as the overall No. 1 seed.
Newcomer of the Year belongs to Eckerd's Trine Kasemagi after she received all but one of the first place votes for newcomer team. Kasemagi is also named the SSC Freshman of the Year.
Jasmine Wilkins (Nova Southeastern), Rana Thomas (Eckerd), Kayk Wilson (Florida Tech), Danielle Robinson (Nova Southeastern), and Juliana Cavallaro (Tampa) make up the All-SSC first team. Kayk Wilson is the only first teamer from last year to return to the list.
