HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Sailfish jumped out to an early lead over the Spartans that gave them a quick six point lead. It wasn't until halfway through the first quarter when the Spartans scored on a Staja Tyghter layup that the Tampa offense was sparked. A layup from Faith Sanders and jumper from Molly Franson would eventually give the Spartans their first lead of the night. Tampa led heading into the second quarter 14-10. A three pointer from Rachel Warden initiated a 7-0 run over the Sailfish to open up the second quarter of play. The Spartans and the Sailfish traded baskets for the majority of the second quarter, Tampa keeping a consistent nine point lead. It wasn't until there were three minutes left on the clock that the Sailfish started applying some pressure to the Spartans, closing in on their lead. A layup by Sanders would put the Spartans back up by ten points, sparking an offensive run from Tampa prior to halftime. At the half, the Spartans led 32-19.
