Tampa Completes First Official Women’s Golf Competition
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's golf program finished its first official tournament, placing 12th overall at the Nova Southeastern Invitational. The second year program made history after competing in exhibition contests in the 2010-11 season.
The Spartans shot an opening round score of 371 and proceeded to club a 364 in Tuesday's final round. Head coach Missey Jones' squad finished at 735. The event was won by the host, Nova Southeastern, as a total of eight Sunshine State Conference schools competed.
Kendra Bishop was the top finisher for Tampa, shooting a two-round score of 162. Bishop's first-round score of 79 was also the top round among all Spartans as she finished 39th overall of 73 total golfers.
Also competing for UT were Erin Meister (62nd, 181), Allie Steffens (64th, 186), Kerri Campbell (68th, 206) and Kara Flando (69th, 206).
Tampa returns to action on Monday at the St. Leo Invitational.
