Records Fall as Tampa Concludes Fall Season
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's golf team finished its fall season with a number of record performances at the Flagler Fall Slam. The Spartans finished 11th overall in the two-round tournament.
Some of the nation's best teams have descended upon the Ancient City to participate in this prestigious tournament. A total of 18 teams and 92 players tackled the 6,062 yard, and par 72, course for 36 holes. Eight of the 18 teams are currently ranked in Golfstat's Relative Ranking top 25 and five of the top 10 players in NCAA Division II will play.
After shooting an opening round 319, Tampa improved 12 strokes to register a school-best 307 in the final round on Tuesday. Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponent Barry University won the team title with a 574, and was followed by Florida Tech (575) and Saint Leo University (591).
Senior Fatin Amin became the first player in school history to schoot a -1 as her 71 in the second round also marked a new program record. Amin finished at 150 in 22nd place.
Also participating for the Spartans were Grace Marie Schian (158), Jess Wild (159), Sydney Stengel (161) and Alyssa Morahan (162).
With the fall season complete, UT will resume play in the second semester with four spring tournaments on its slate, plus postseason play. Tampa starts the spring on February 6-8 at the Flagler Invitational in St. Augustine, Fla.
