Kiira Riihijarvi Finishes Third at NCAA South Super Regional
Sophomore advances to nationals for second straight season.
GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - University of Tampa women's golfer Kiira Riihijarvi notched her second top-three NCAA South Super Regional finish as she qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships with her third-place finish.
Competing as an individual, the sophomore from Oulu, Finland, was within striking distance of the top for the entire regional. After opening with a 70 in Monday's round, Riihijarvi carded a 77 and 75 to conclude the three-day event with a score of 222.
This marks the second straight season where she competed as an individual, as she won the individual championship as a freshman. This year's regional was played at Germantown Country Club.
The NCAA Nationals is scheduled for May 17-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston.
