GAMEDAY ADVANCE: No.3 Spartans Compete Against No.16 Lynn on Senior Day
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa lacrosse team are set to compete in their Senior Day matchup against Lynn University.
The Matchup: No. 3 University of Tampa (14-2, 6-0 SSC) vs. No. 16 Lynn University (12-5, 3-3 SSC)

Series History: The Spartans are leading in the series 2-0. Their largest margin of victory came in their first-ever matchup against the Fighting Knights on April 10, 2021, with a final score of 17-6. In their latest game on April 23, 2022, the Spartans won with a final score of 15-9.
About the Spartans: The Spartans soar into this Senior Day matchup after securing their 14th win on the season against No.14 Embry-Riddle. The Spartans started off hot then cooled down a bit, down 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter, both teams started a little slow and the first goal of the quarter wasn't scored until 7:47 left by Riley McGettigan tying the game at five. From there, the Spartans were on a roll regaining their lead and extending it for the remaining quarters. They held the Eagles to no goals scored in both the second and third quarters. Allie Peebles and Sophi Wrisk led the team with a hat trick a piece. Gia Colombo and Dani Waters led the team with four groundballs. Alyssa Romano led the team winning four draw controls. Despite this, this is the season's second game where the Spartans have finished with only one assist. The Spartans look forward to ending the regular season on a positive note and securing the win on their Senior Day.
About the Fighting Knights: The Knights travel into this matchup with a dominant win under their belt against Palm Beach Atlantic. Lynn opened the game on a 9-0 run, setting the tone for their dominant performance. From here, they outscored PBA in the remaining quarters never allowing them to get more than one goal. The Knights outshot Lynn 35-8, won more draw controls 18-7, and cleared 13 of 15 clear attempts. Danielle Farinas led with eight points, three goals, and five assists. Kristyn Johnson and Isabella Connelly finished with seven draw controls. The Knights look to continue their win streak and finish their regular season on a positive note.
