Tampa Rowing Looks For Students To Join Team
TAMPA, Fla. - In an effort to develop the women's lightweight rowing team at The University of Tampa, the program is embarking on a recruiting effort aimed at high school lightweight rowers.
While scholarship money is very limited for all lightweight rowing programs, the program is able to offer from $2,000 to $3,000 per year in assistance to qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, all applicants must meet University of Tampa academic admission standards. An absolute minimum standard in all facets of an applicant's qualifications are considered, but the typical freshman should have the following: Average Freshman GPA: 3.3 (un-weighted), Average Freshman SAT: 1100 and Average Freshman ACT: 24.
Anyone who is close to these levels and is interested in the program is encouraged to apply.
At least two years of high school rowing experience with at least one year at the varsity level is required.
A published 2K erg time of 8:00 or better is also required. Once again, rowers who are close should apply as we will recruit the best applicants.
Medical clearance indicating that you can compete at under 130 lbs in a healthy manner. No exceptions here. If you are not a natural lightweight, please do not apply for lightweight scholarship money.
