Shelby Kuni and Malana Winskas Named Daktronics First-Team All-Americans
TAMPA, Fla. - Following a record breaking run to the NCAA II women's soccer national semifinals, a Shelby Kuni and Malana Winskas were both named first-team All-Americans on the inaugural Daktronics Women's Soccer team. Kara Rasmussen joined the duo as she was chosen as a second-team All-American.
Kuni, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, set a school record with 26 goals this season as Winskas became the first player in Sunshine State Conference to win its Defender of the Year Award four times. Kuni, the SSC Offensive Player of the Year, helped Tampa to an 18-3-1 record, which set the program mark for victories in a season. Winskas, a senior from Champaign, Ill, led a defense that allowed just 14 goals in 22 matches and held opponents to just 69 shots. Rasmussen, a midfielder from Vero Beach, Fla., contributed to the offense and defense, scoring two goals and three assists while starting all 22 matches.
