BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Tampa (8-3, 4-0 SSC) women's soccer team remained undefeated in Sunshine State Conference play while winning its fourth straight match with a 2-1 victory over #20 Lynn University (7-2-2, 1-1-1 SSC).
The Fighting Knights scored the first goal of the game, sending the match to haltime with a 1-0 Lynn advantage. Melissa Ortiz scored her 14th goal of the season from Sarah Mendelsberg on a long pass down the right sideline at 33:09.
Lynn kept its lead until Tampa's Shelby Kuni was awarded a penalty kick at 68:28. UT's all-time leading goal scorer responded with a goal that was scored off the post.
The Spartans then took the 2-1 lead on a game-winning goal by leading scorer Courtney Evans at 81:52. Megan Tobin recorded the assist as Evans buried the put back off a goalkeeper save on a Tobin free kick.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal for the Spartans, registering one save while facing 11 shots.
