TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (9-3) women's soccer team won its fifth straight game with a 3-0 victory over visiting Palm Beach Atlantic (1-10-2). The Spartans have now recorded a shutout in four of the last five matches.
It took just over 36 minutes for the Spartans to register their first goal, which was recorded by Shelby Kuni following a Megan Tobin corner kick. UT then added another goal before halftime when Sara Belsole scored unassisted at 41:26.
In the second half, freshman Caroline Spencer registered her first collegiate points when she scored in the 72nd minute. Spencer's goal was assisted by fellow freshman Brittan Spence.
Tampa also nearly blanked PBA in shots as it registered 22 while allowing just two Sailfish shots, as each came in the final four minutes of play. UT also had 12 shots on goal, though PBA goalkeeper Ashley Morrell tallied nine saves. Kuni led Tampa with seven shots, including four on goal.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal for Tampa as fellow freshman Caitlin Fox played the second half to complete the UT shutout. Fox recorded two saves for the Spartans.
