TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (7-2, 2-1 SSC) women's soccer team had no letdown as it handled visiting Eckerd College (1-8, 0-3 SSC) by a 6-0 score in a Sunshine State Conference contest from Pepin Stadium.
A total of nine Spartans registered a point in the game as it took just over 11 minutes for Brittan Spence to score her first of two goals to give the Spartans a permanent lead. Jazmin Perry and Luana Miessa assisted on the game-winner.
In addition to Spence's two goals, Courtney Peffley, Natalie Gibson, Carolyn Simon and Caroline Spencer each added a goal. Perry was credited with two assists while Peffley, Miessa, Alexa DellaRocco, Gibson and Cina Salemi each tallied a helper.
The UT offense finished with 31 saves, including 16 on goal as its defense limited Eckerd to just two shots. Leah Cesanek (7-2) played the entire game in goal for the Spartans.
The Spartans now have a week off to prepare for an SSC meeting with Florida Southern College. The game is slated for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Lakeland. Live stats will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
