UT Comes in at No. 11 in Final NSCAA Top-25 Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team is ranked No. 11 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 poll.
"Congrats to the entire UTWS team on our recent achievements," says head coach Gerry Lucey. "Receiving a season end ranking by the NSCAA of number 11 is excellent. It's a fair reflection of our seasons work and we know that we will come back stronger next season."
Tampa is one of two Sunshine State Conference schools represented in the poll as conference co-leader Rollins is No. 19. Fellow NCAA South Region foe West Florida captured the national championship and holds the top spot.
The Spartans are coming off a Sunshine State Conference Tournament where they captured the program's third straight title, and sixth overall. The road to the crown included a 3-0 semifinal win over Florida Southern and a 4-2 shootout triumph against host Rollins.
Tampa then advanced all the way to the NCAA South Region finals where it fell by a 2-0 score to the eventual national champions.
After opening the season at No. 8, UT has now been ranked in the top-25 for 10 consecutive years, including a top-10 billing in the previous two. The Spartans have spent 10 weeks in 2012 in the national top-25, including the final eight.
