The University of Tampa women's soccer team (5-0-1) defeated the Georgia Southwestern University Canes (0-5) by a final score of 14-0 on Tuesday night in Valdosta, Ga.
The Spartans tied a school record with the 14 goals they tallied. The previous time Tampa scored 14 was on September 7, 2012, when they beat Warner University.
Junior Lauren Moore paced the way for the Spartans, as she tallied five goals against the Canes. The five goals also ties her own school record for individual goals in a game. Moore also accomplished the feat on September 4, 2012 against Florida Memorial University. On the game Moore also tallied six shots on goal, and two assists for UT.
Nine other Spartans were able to net goals in the victory over GSW. Cici Gonzalez, Madison Cox, and Miranda Gonzalez put up goals in the first half, while Sara Lininger, Shelby Larson, Amber Pennybaker, Kaela Harmon, Arielle Gonzalez, and Hannah Watts were able to record second half goals. The 14-0 victory also set a school record for largest margin od victory.
Overall, the Spartans put up 67 shots, while not allowing a shot to the Canes.
