TAMPA, Fla.- The No. 13 University of Tampa (6-0-2) women's soccer team dueled Florida Southern College (4-0-2) to a 0-0 (2 OT) draw on Wednesday afternoon at Pepin Stadium.
The Spartans outshot the Mocs 5-4 in the first half with a 3-2 advantage on goal. Florida Southern held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks over Tampa in the period.
UT held a 16-3 shot advantage in the second period with four coming on goal. The Spartans continued to dominate time of possession in overtime while the defense did not allow a shot in the final 20 minutes of the match.
Goalkeeper Caroline Frykgard played all 110 minutes and notched three saves for Tampa to record her seventh shutout of the season.
Amber Pennybaker, Cici Gonzalez and Lauren Moore led all Spartans with five shots each in the game. Pennybaker placed three shots on target to lead the team as Kaley Ward, Miranda Gonzalez, and Candice Shields each placed two on goal.
Tampa completed the match with a massive 27-7 advantage in shots while holding an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Despite a dominant offensive performance the Spartans were unable to net a goal after 110 minutes of play.
