Tampa Sails Past Palm Beach to Conclude Regular Season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa (12-3-3) women's soccer team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic (2-10-1) by a final score of 2-1 Thursday night.
The Sailfish opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Kasey Wyer found Marissa Pacheco for the first goal of the match.
Tampa responded later in the period with Lauren Moore finding the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.
UT outshot PBA 13-5 in the first half while holding a 5-1 shot on goal advantage and a slight edge in corner kicks 4-2.
Madison Cox gave the Spartans a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute as Kaley Ward found the defender on a long pass through the Sailfish defense.
The UT defense held strong for the remainder of the second half to help preserve the victory by limiting PBA to just two shots on goal.
Cici Gonzalez had a team-high six shots while Amber Pennybaker and Gabby Russo also contributed to the offense with four and three shots respectively.
