Tampa Tops Eckerd to Advance to SSC Semifinals

The University of Tampa (13-3-3) women's soccer team defeated Eckerd College (8-8-1) by a final score of 2-0 Tuesday night in a Sunshine State Conference quarterfinal matchup.
Netting her first goal of SSC tournament play Kaley Ward gave Tampa an early lead in the 18th minute from a penalty kick.
In a matter of moments the Spartans struck their second goal of the half from Cici Gonzalez assisted by Madison Cox and Ward in the 20th minute.
UT held Eckerd scoreless for the remainder of the match as Caroline Frykgard anchored Tampa's defense ending the night with three saves.
The Spartans offense outshot the Tritons 7-3 for game. Lauren Moore contributed with two shots on goal.
