Spartans Come In at No.20 In NSCAA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team breaks into the national rankings as the Spartans are now listed at No. 20 in the nation according to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II rankings.
The Spartans are now 3-0-1 while outscoring their opponents 8-4. Additionally, Tampa has outshot their opponents 66-48 in 379 minutes of play.
UT's resume includes wins over NCAA Division II opponents Columbus State, Tusculum along with in-state foe West Florida. The draw came in a 1-1 match with Newberry College at the CSU Collegiate Invitational.
Tampa is one of three SSC schools in the top-25 as Rollins College comes in at No. 21 while Barry University shot up to No. 1 following a victory over then-No. 10 Georgia College and State University last week.
Senior Cici Gonzalez leads the Spartans with three goals and two game-winning goals. Freshman standout Nastasia Asgedom has notched two goals and leads the squad with three assists.
The Spartans meet Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., to open up Sunshine State Conference play. UT then travels Winter Park, Fla. on September 23 to take on the Rollins College Tars.
