Swimmers Earn Dual Meet over Rollins and Saint Leo
TAMPA, Fla. - The 16th-ranked University of Tampa men's swimming team and the 15th-ranked Spartan women each defeated Rollins College and Saint Leo University in a Saturday morning dual meet.
UT's women began the meet with a 200 Medley Relay victory as the team of Susanna Ashley, Kelsey Lubbers, Ellie Eshleman and Kaitlin Skepanski won in a time of 1:57.20. UT individuals who took first place finishes were Jennifer Jenkins (1,000 Free, 11:18.90), Skepanski (200 Free, 2:01.00), Allison Vetter (50 Free, 26.25; 100 Free, 56.21), Lubbers (200 IM, 2:15.47), Ashley (100 Fly, 1:01.18) and Hannah Hudson (500 Free, 5:23.88).
The Spartan men also won the initial event as the group of Patrick Murray, Paul LaPorta, Mike Verdi and Cory Allen took top honors with a time of 1:41.44. The other Spartans to win their respective races were Blaine Bess (1,000 Free, 10:22.10; 100 Free, 49.94), LaPorta (200 IM, 2:04.66; 100 Breast, 1:03.76) and Matt Kramer (100 Back, 55.56).
UT is back in action on Friday as it hosts Darton College at 3:30 p.m.
