Tampa Tops Saint Leo and Rollins in Final Home Meet
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams registered a pair of victories, defeating Saint Leo University and Rollins College in a meet between local schools.
The No. 12 women's team won two relay and eight individual races. UT opened the meet with a top finish in the 200 Medley Relay from Ellie Eshleman, Kim Tench, Emilee Margiotta and Megan Garland. The team won with a time of 1:54.36. The Spartans also won the 200 Free Relay. Jessie Bardin, Allison Vetter, Madison Flake and Margiotta registered a time of 1:43.17.
The individual races won by Tampa include the 200 Free by Kelsey Lubbers (2:02.76), 100 Breast by Garland (1:12.80), 50 Free by Margiotta (26.14), 1650 Free by Bardin (18:33.25), 100 Free by Flake (55.34), 100 Fly by Lindsay Calimer (58.92), 500 Free by Hannah Hudson (5:21.63) and the 200 IM by Jennifer Jenkins (2:14.01).
The No. 10 men also won both relay events, in addition to six individual races. The first victory was in the 200 Medley Relay as Shane Armbrister, Alex Hetland, Daniel Hernandez and Michael Verdi were the first to finish with a time of 1:36.55. UT also picked up a 200 Free Relay victory from Hetland, Verdi, Frank Kuchta and Patrick Murray in 1:26.75.
Spartans who won their races included Hunter Lineback in the 200 Free (1:45.09), Matt Kramer in the 100 Breast (1:00.88), Shane Armbrister in the 100 Free (49.54), Alex Hetland in the 100 Fly (48.36), Chris O'Linger in the 1650 Free (16:01.46) and Jeff Fiore in the 200 IM (1:57.79).
