Tampa Swimmers Continue Success At Nationals
HOUSTON, Texas - Through three days at the 2009 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Winter Festival, The University of Tampa men's and women's teams both remain in contention as UT also claimed another individual national championship.
Heading into the final day of competition on Saturday, Tampa's men are seventh while the women are 16th.
After setting a national record while winning the 200 IM, Tampa's Alex Hetland broke his own national record in Friday's 100 Breast.
UT's men had a pair of finishers in the 500 Free as Chris O'Linger was fifth, followed by teammate Hunter Lineback at 11.
With a third place finish in the 500 Free, Jessie Bardin made UT's record books with a new school record in the event.
Tampa also claimed a pair of eighth place finishes in the 800 Free Relay as the men's team of O'Linger, Jeff Fiore, Tyler Furrer and Hunter Lineback were joined by women's swimmers Bardin, Hannah Hudson, Megan Garland and Madison Flake in the same spot.
The Spartans conclude competition on Saturday in the final day of the championships.
