Tampa Swimming Places at NCAA Championships
GENEVA, Ohio - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams concluded the season at the 2014 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at the Spire Institute with the UT men finishing ninth and the women 21st.
Tampa's men finished with 189 points, as Drury held won the national championship with 569.5. UT's women tallied 45 points as Drury also captured the women's trophy with 486.
This marks the 21st straight year the Spartan men have placed at the Championships, and the first top-10 finish since 2009 when UT was eighth. This is the 14th consecutive Championship finish for Tampa's women.
UT's men added a pair of All-Americans as individuals as Martin Hammer was eighth in the 100 Free with a time of 44.50. Karl Burdis was also sixth in the 200 Back after being clocked at 1:46.53.
Tampa's men concluded the championships with another excellent performance in the finale, as the team of Martin Hammer, Jordan Augier, Khalid Aldaboos, Jeremy Parker were sixth in the 400 Free Relay. The newly minted All-Americans were times at 2:59.30.
