Tampa Swimmers Too Much for Rollins
WINTER PARK, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams cruised to a pair of easy victories at Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins College.
The Spartans picked up a combined 312-181 victory, with their men winning 155-93 and women 157-88.
The Spartan men began the meet with a first-place showing in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Runar Borgen, Jordan Augier, Khalid Aldaboos and Jeremy Parker finished in 1:31.73.
Winning individual races for UT's men was Vincent Perstad-Leveau in the 1,000 Free (10:15.58), Tommy Reminger in the 200 Fly (1:58.22), Martin Hammer in the 50 Free (20.57), Runar Borgen in the 200 Back (1:57.37), Alberto Orejuela in the 500 Free (4:53.35), Augier in the 100 Fly (50.79) and Victor Philaire in the 200 IM (2:00.67).
Tampa's women also picked up a first-place performance to start things off, with the 200 Medley Relay. The group of Catherine Bayes, Noel Styer, Brittany Murphy and Marisa Barton won in 1:49.44.
Spartan women who won their races were Izzy Spalding in the 200 Free (1:59.72), Nelly Hansson in the 100 Back (1:02.70), Victoria Horsman in the 200 Fly (2:10.97), Amanda Fernandes in the 50 Free (24.82), Allison Hutchins in the 100 Free (55.35), Chelsea Miller in the 200 Back (2:16.70), Brittany Bayes in the 500 Free (5:19.26), Barton in the 200 Fly (59.96) and Eleanor Johnson in the 200 IM (2:16.56).
UT also captured a first-place performance in the final event, the 200 Free Relay, which was non-scoring.
The Spartans are back in action on Dec. 18-20 at the Spartan Invitational, which will be hosted by UT at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.
