Spartans Cruise to Pair of Wins at Rollins
WINTER PARK, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins College on Saturday, picking up a pair of lopsided victories over the Tars.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Final: Tampa Spartans 154, Rollins Tars 51
Women's Final: Tampa Spartans 145, Rollins Tars 60

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first meet totaled 28 events, including 14 for the men and 14 for the women.
- Tampa's men won all but three of their events, giving them their first win of the season.
- The women won 13 out of 14 of their events in the meet.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):
- UT's 200 Medley Relay team of Mikael Haugen, Jared Mindek, Noah Paut and Brian Daugherty took first after being clocked at 1:34.09. The Spartans also took second and third in the first relay.
- Freshman Hector Paz was the first to finish in the 1,000 Free after being timed at 9:54.71. Teammates Joe Bozzi and Aidan Sims followed to give the Spartans the top three spots.
- Paut earned another first-place finish as he won the 50 Free in 20.75. He would then take the 100 Free in 45.87, making it three first-place finishes on the day.
- The Spartans took first in the 400 IM from Ian Morgan as he was timed at 4:10.60.
- Winn Aung posted a first-place time of 51.48 in the 100 Fly as teammates Nick Fauteux and Vincent Smith were second and third respectively.
- The 100 Back went 1-2-3 to the Spartans, with Pablo Ortiz taking first with a time of 51.82. He was followed by Haugen and Parker Knollman.
- After being part of a top relay finish, Mindek won the 100 Breast with a 58.97, as the lone participant under a minute.
- UT took first in the final event of the meet, with a 1:25.37 in the 200 Free Relay. The first-place group included Ortiz, Daugherty, Jimmy Senese and Sims.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
- The Spartans opened the meet taking the 200 Medley Relay in 1:47.60. The team of Courtney Sherwood, Julia Augustsson, Katie Horan and Elizaveta Bazarova defeated the Tars group by two-plus seconds.
- Jessie Tobin championed the 1,000 Free in 10:42.51.
- The 200 Free went to Megan Goldthorpe as her winning time was 1:55.86. She would later take first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:13.85, ahead of second and third-place finishers Holly Wessel and Alexa Turco.
- Bazarova took her second first-place finish as she was first in the 50 Free at 24.53.
- The 400 IM was won by UT's Madi Lauger in 4:39.07.
- Freshman Emma Chestang placed first in the 100 Free as her winning time was 53.94.
- Juliana Carey was the fastest swimmer in the 100 Back, notching a time of 1:00.34.
- Tampa took the 100 Breast with a time of 1:05.68 from Julia Augustsson.

Tampa returns home to welcome SSC opponent Florida Southern to the UT Aquatics Center on Friday at 4 p.m.
