School Record Falls on Day One of NCAA Swimming Championships
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Tampa women's swim team began competition at the 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships began on Wednesday. The team sent 15 swimmers, the third most of any program in the nation.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
- The Women's team is eighth with a total of 44 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The women were represented in all five of the events during finals.
ALL-AMERICAN PERFORMANCES:
- In the 1,000 Yard Freestyle, Megan Goldthorpe placed sixth with a time of 10:10.40.
- A new school record was set when Elizaveta Bazarova finished fourth with a time of 22.76 in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN PERFORMANCES:
- The 200 Yard Medley Relay, consisting of Mady Barnes, Julia Augustsson, Courtney Sherwood, and Bazarova, placed tenth with a time of 1:42.32.
- Barnes finished 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.27.
UP NEXT:
The NCAA Championships continue tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with trials. Tampa will be represented in the 100 Butterfly, 400 IM, and 100 Freestyle. Fans can watch live and find results on NCAA.com.
