Spartans Rally Past Florida Tech
TAMPA, Fla. - The 36th-ranked University of Tampa tennis team handed Florida Tech a 7-2 loss for UT's first Sunshine State Conference victory of the season. The Spartans improve to 5-4 on the season and 1-3 in league play with the victory. Florida Tech falls to 1-4 and 1-3 in conference action.
The Spartans began the match with all three doubles victories. The number-one team of Erin Heeder and Jessica Faber posted an 8-5 victory as the two team of freshmen Jamie Lieberman and Kourtney Stark came out on top in a 9-7 decision.
The number-three doubles team of Caitlin Scudder and Allison Beck were no match to their opponents, registering an 8-1 victory.
In singles action, Faber was victorious at the number-two spot while Scudder, Stark and Beck all won at the three-four and five positions respectively.
Tampa is set to host Eckerd on Wednesday, February 28, in a match beginning at 3 p.m.
