Spartans Cruise Past St. Olaf
TAMPA, Fla. - The 32nd-ranked University of Tampa tennis team recorded an 8-1 victory over visiting St. Olaf (Minn.) College, moving to 12-6 on the season.
The Spartans took two of three doubles matches as the number two and three teams were victorious. Jessica Faber and Allison Beck registered an easy 8-2 victory as the three team of Lindsey McLendon and Caitlin Scudder needed a tiebreaker to win 9-8.
All six singles matches went in favor of Tampa, with Faber leading the way. The number one player recorded the lone 6-0, 6-0 sweep of singles action. Kourtney Stark won 6-2, 6-2 at the two position while fellow freshman Jamie Lieberman recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory at three. The other Tampa players in the lineup were Scudder (four), Allison Beck (five) and Claire Darling (six).
Tampa's next match is at Florida Southern on Tuesday, April 3. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Lakeland.
