Spartans Too Much For Montevallo
TAMPA, Fla. - In a match that lasted under two hours, The University of Tampa tennis team handled the University of Montevallo, defeating the Falcons by a score of 9-0. UT improves to 2-10 while UM drops to 9-5.
The number one doubles team of Kourtney Stark and Claire Runge set the pace as it registered a quick 8-0 victory. Victoria Bell and Emily Kennedy followed suit with an 8-2 win from the number two spot as the three team of Lindsey Garyn and Megan Mancini was victorious by an 8-4 mark.
In singles, each Spartan won easily, not allowing Montevallo to win more than two games in each match. Stark participated in the number-one singles match, winning 6-1, 6-1 as Bell won 6-2, 6-1 from the number two spot.
Runge, Garyn and Ally Wooten each won 6-1, 6-1 from the number three through five matches, respectively. UT's Emily Kennedy also won by default in the number-six spot.
Tampa is back in action on Thursday as it hosts NCAA Division I opponent Wisconsin-Green Bay. The match will begin at 3 p.m., at the UT Tennis Complex.
