Tampa Falls In SSC Meeting With Saint Leo
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa (2-14, 0-7 SSC) tennis team was defeated by a 6-3 score against Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo University (6-11, 1-5 SSC).
In doubles play, the number-two team of Megan Mancini and Nikol Williams notched the lone UT victory with an 8-3 triumph over SLU's duo of Chloe Andersson and Tamara Bustard. The Lions captured the number-one and three matches by identical scores of 8-3.
Freshmen Molly Welsh and Williams accounted for the two Spartan singles wins, coming from the three and four positions. Welsh topped Christine Clyne 6-2, 6-3 as Williams netted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Andersson.
The Spartans will conclude its regular season on Wed., Apr. 7 at Eckerd College in an SSC contest. The match is slated for 3 p.m.
