#12 Florida Southern Trumps Tampa In Tennis
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 41 University of Tampa (0-4, 0-2 SSC) tennis team fell by a 7-2 score to No. 12 Florida Southern College (1-1, 1-1 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference match on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans had victories at the number five and six singles positions with Briana Ryan and Becky Ewing each winning their respective matches. Ryan defeated Crystal Copeland 6-4, 6-4 as Ewing won over Charlotte Brereton by a 6-1, 6-0 showing.
Tampa hosts Nova Southeastern University of Sunday at the UT Tennis Complex. The match will begin at 11 a.m. Nova is ranked No. 31 in the ITA preseason rankings and eighth in the South Region.
