Tampa Stopped By #8 Rollins
TAMPA, Fla. - In a matchup with its fifth straight nationally-ranked opponent, the University of Tampa (2-6, 0-5 SSC) tennis team lost by a 6-3 score to No. 8 Rollins College (1-2, 1-1 SSC). The match was a Sunshine State Conference meeting at the UT Tennis Complex.
The number-one doubles team of Meg Wladimirski and Lauren Hewett played out a 9-8 victory for the Spartans, winning the tie-breaker by an 8-3 score.
Tampa's Thashia Garcia won the number-one singles match as the freshman topped Stefania Tkach by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Classmate Chloe Pereira also won for UT at number-six with a 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 12-10 triumph.
UT will next travel to London, England where it will play a pair of matches against English college. Tampa will face Imperial College on March 4, followed by Kings College on March 7.
