Tampa Enjoys Easy Win After Returning Home From European Trip
TAMPA, Fla. - After spending spring break in England, the University of Tampa (3-6) tennis team returned home and cruised past Eckerd College (2-8) in a non-conference meeting between Sunshine State Conference schools, winning 9-0.
The top doubles team of Meg Wladimirski and Lauren Hewett earned an 8-2 win for Tampa as both the two and three teams won by scores of 8-4. Leslie Raymond and Megan Mancini made up the two duo as Thashia Garcia and Briana Ryan played at three,
In singles play, Garcia had no problems in a 6-2, 6-0 win from her number-one spot. Hewett and Mancini won at two and three as Raymond won a deciding third set. Mancini won at five while freshman Chloe Pereira came out on top in a three-set affair at number six singles.
The Spartans will return to the court for a Thursday afternoon meeting with Bentley University at the UT Tennis Complex. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
